How can i join as a competitor?

Getting started is so easy. Simply browse for available events and register on www.sportdata.org. We will inform you about every step you have to do and support you throughout the whole event. Record videos of your performance and upload them. Wait for the referees to judge online. Follow your matches online and the final results.

How can i join as a referee?

You are an official referee and reputable expert in your sport? Great, so join our eTournaments! We expect you to judge fair! Simply browse for available events and register on www.sportdata.org as an E-REFEREE. We will inform you about every step you have to do and support you throughout the whole event. After the draw, we will randomly assign matches for you. Once all videos are submitted, you can find them online and start judging. Follow your matches online and the final results.

If entry fees are charged for eTournaments, our Referees will be paid a fee based on the number of matches they judge.

Video Requirements

For fair play and objective judging, your video recordings need to meet certain requirements:

Sample Video




Quality of recording (Sample Video)
  • Recommended resolution: 1080p (Full HD). Minimum resolution: 720p (HD)
  • Your recording must provide good quality audio capture, without background noise
  • Do not edit your video (no change of audio, no overlays, no cutting, and speed up or slow down)
Uniform (Sample Video)
  • You have to wear an adequate uniform, according to the dress code of your sport
  • In Creative, Musical and Tricking Forms you must wear a competition uniform
  • You have to wear your belt in martial art events, which reflects your current grade in your sport
Location (Sample Video)
  • You can record your video anywhere - rooms or open air - as long as this location provides enough space and a flat ground
  • Make sure the location is quiet and has adequate light conditions
  • Make sure this location is free of other items and there is no unusual risk of injury
Camera position (Sample Video)
  • If outside, do not position the camera against direct sunlight
  • When positioning the camera, make sure the distance is big enough to record all of the necessary area for your performance, and the athlete is visible throughout the entire performance (Graph 1)
  • Do not put the camera on the floor – we recommend a height of minimum 80 cm. If you don’t have a tripod, use a table or other stable object etc. (Graph 2)

Workflow of your recording (Sample Video)
  1. Start the recording
  2. In case the event works with image codes, the image we will provide you online on the day of competition on the camera. You can show from any device, e.g. smart phone, tablet, or screens, as long as it can be easily seen. This image is needed to verify the correct day and time frame of your recorded performance.
  3. Tell your name, and the name of your performance loud and clearly
  4. Start your performance, including all usual and sport specific initial and closing salutation rituals.
  5. Stop the recording

If your video recording does not meet the above-mentioned requirements, you may not be able to compete.

General Tournament Rules and Configuration

If not defined different for a particular event, the following Tournament Rules and Configuration apply:

Tournament Categories/Divisions
  • Tournaments will be carried out in different categories/division, separated by age, sex and skill levels
  • Details about the used categories, limits and participation fees you can find in the Category section of each event
  • If not defined differntly for a particular event, the number of entries per categories does not exceed 32
  • Categories may be split or merged if needed
  • If special rules apply for different Tournaments and Categories (e.g. if you are allowed to repeat your performance), this information will be published latest on the day the registration starts at the download section of the event
Tournament System
  • If not defined different for a particular event, the Tournament will be carried out in single elimination (KO system) mode

  • In single elimination mode, the winner of each match will proceed to the next round
  • 1. Place will be awarded the winner of the final match
  • 2. Place will be awarded to the other finalist
  • 3. Places will be awarded to the competitors who lose in the Semi Final
  • 5. Places will be awarded to the competitors who lose in the 1/4 Final
  • 9. Places will be awarded to the competitors who lose in the 1/8 Final
  • 17. Places will be awarded to the competitors who lose in the 1/16 Final
Tournament Schedule
  • One day before the start of the Tournament, the draws will be published and all participants informed
  • A detailed timetable will be published before the start of the tournament on the event page
  • Each competitor has to record, upload the video on a supported video platform and submit the video URL within 24 hours for each round. This gives every competitor the same chance and respects different time zones
  • Supported video platforms:
    CodePen, DailyMotion, Deviantart, Facebook, Flickr, GettyImages, Gfycat, Giphy, Hulu, Instagram, Kickstarter, Livestream, Meetup, Reddit, Scribd, Sketchfab, Slideshare, SoundCloud, SpeakerDeck, Spotify, Ted, Twitch, Twitter, Vimeo, Wordpress, Youtube
  • After your video ULR submission, your video will be validated in order to make sure it meets all requirements
  • Once the videos are validated and approved, the referees will also get 24 hours in order to judge their matches
  • This process continues until all the finals are finished on the last day of the Tournament
  • For each round you have to record, upload and submit a new video, following above explained video requirements

The Referee Panel
  • Support of referee panels with up to 7 referees per match
  • Support of highest/lowest score removal
  • Support of simple vote on winner of match
  • Support of public voting
Scoring and Judging
  • For each competitor in a match the referees give a score
  • 10 is the highest score. 7.5 is the average score and 5 is the lowest score
  • The highest and the lowest scores are dropped and the rest is added up, forming the total score
  • The competitor with the higher score wins the match and proceeds to the next round
  • In case of a tie (both competitors have the same total score), the number of referee votes are counted. E.g. Referee1 gives a higher score to Competitor1, Competitor1 gets the vote of Referee1.

  • Proper sequence of movement
  • Level of strength
  • Contraction and expansion of the body
  • Control of Speed and change in the speed of the techniques
  • Power and accuracy in performance of basic techniques (posture, balance, stance and accuracy in reaching the point of target)
  • Overall performance and illustration of essential characteristics of the performance
  • Displaying courtesy in attitude, fighting spirit and effort, and correct eye contact
  • Proper use of stance and posture
